COLORADO'S TRUSTED FIREWOOD COMPANY
SINCE 1960's
Its difficult to determine it all depends on your burning habbits. Many factors come into play such as time you burn the size of fire you make the type of wood and your stove or fireplace buring efficiency.
It all depends on what you would like to get out of your firewood. Do you want slow burning?-go with hardwood. Something that starts easy? softwood starts easy but burns faster. The overall best selling is the mix because you get soft wood for easy starting and hardwood for slower burning. The best thing is to experiment with the different types of wood to best fit your needs.
Yes I recomend that you clean your chimney once every two years if your burning pine moderately or once a year if you burn is consistently.
It typicaly takes 1-2 months (depending on type of wood soft wood drys faster hardwood drys slower) It has to be in the dry summer months (high 80's-90's) and stacked and split and in a area that receives plenty of sunlight. Wood will dry in the winter but takes about twise as long if not longer. It all depends on the weather and how much sun it gets.
Only if the tree has been freshly cut down and the tree is still green. Other than that No the beetle kills the tree then flys to the next one or dies off. Thats is why the beetle has spread so fast in our forests.
All of our firewood is recycled from trees that have been removed for a cause such has fire metigation, trees that have died, trees that have been removed for safety issues or for building sites. We do our best to keep removed trees from being disposed into our landfills and process them into valuable renewable energy.
